"One Laptop Per Child is a neo-colonial trojan horse."

I think that One Laptop Per Child is not a neo-colonial trojan horse. I believe that it is merely a program designed to aid the less fortunate. The way to help those in third world countries is not to throw a bunch of money at them and hope they invest it wisely. The way to help is through education. The more educated people are the more they can begin to help themselves and others. Through One Laptop Per Child, children of third world countries are merely getting a fair chance at an education. After the educational process, it is the person's choice to do what they will with their new found education.

For example, one child who was part of the program may grow up to be a teacher in his/her community. Another child who was part of the same program may choose to do nothing with their education. I think this program only re-enforces the importance of a quality education. The more educated people are there are less poverty and health issues.

I don't believe this is an attempt to make a society exactly like first world societies, I believe that it is an attempt to provide everyone, world wide, with the choice to receive an education and to become educated on issues and events making them more prone to better jobs and therefore being able to better serve their community.
